Couples Prep Guide

Welcome

Thank you so much for choosing Meagan Nicole Photography to capture your relationship. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, a new season of life, or simply wanting to document your connection, I’m so honored to tell your story.

My couples sessions are designed to feel natural, relaxed, and genuine focusing less on stiff poses and more on real connection, movement, emotion, and interaction.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know before your session so you can feel fully prepared and excited.

What to Expect

You do not need modeling experience to create beautiful images.

My sessions are very guided, but in a natural way.

I’ll prompt movement and interaction rather than forcing awkward poses.

Expect a lot of:

-  Walking

-  Laughing

-  Cuddling

-  Movement

-  Conversation

-  Genuine moments

The goal is to capture your relationship in a way that feels authentic to you.

What to Wear

Wardrobe plays a huge role in the overall look and feel of your images.

Recommended Colors

-  Neutral tones

-  Earthy colors

-  Soft muted shades

-  Warm tones

-  Simple timeless outfits

Avoid

-  Neon colors

-  Busy patterns

-  Large logos or graphics

-  Matching outfits exactly

Instead of matching, focus on coordinating tones and textures.

Layers, flowy fabrics, and movement photograph beautifully.

As part of my full-service experience, I’m always happy to help with outfit planning and styling before your session.

Hair & Makeup

Professional hair and makeup can make a huge difference in helping you feel confident and relaxed during your session.

I highly recommend soft, natural makeup that enhances your features while still feeling like you. If needed, I’m always happy to provide trusted artist recommendations.

If you’re doing your own makeup:

-  Slightly more makeup than everyday photographs best

-  Avoid heavy glitter products

-  Keep your look true to your personality

Feeling good translates beautifully into your photos.

Session Day Tips

1.  Relax & Trust the Process

You do not need to worry about posing or “what to do.”

I’ll guide you through the entire session naturally so nothing feels forced or awkward.

2.  Focus on Each Other

The best images happen when you focus on your partner instead of the camera.

Talk, laugh, move, hold hands, dance, joke around genuine interaction always photographs best.

3.  Arrive Early

Arriving a few minutes early helps everyone settle in relaxed and stress-free.

4.  Bring Comfortable Shoes

Especially for outdoor locations, comfortable walking shoes are always a good idea between photo spots.

Most Importantly…

This session is about documenting your relationship exactly as it is right now.

The quiet moments, the laughter, the way you naturally interact those are the things that matter most years from now.

My goal is to preserve your connection in a way that feels timeless, genuine, and true to you.

FAQ

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

A.Almost everyone says this before their session. I’ll guide you through natural movement and prompts so the session feels more like spending time together than “posing” for photos.

Can we bring multiple outfits?

A.Absolutely. Depending on your session type, there’s usually time for multiple outfit options.

What happens if the weather is bad?

A.If weather conditions are unsafe or negatively impact the session, we’ll reschedule for a new date.

What if my partner doesn’t like taking photos?

A.This is incredibly common. My sessions are relaxed, interactive, and focused on connection rather than stiff posing, which helps people feel much more comfortable quickly.
